St John’s U16s girls made the journey to Tourlestrane for their Division 2 Championship match and came away with the victory in what was a pulsating game.
Both teams deserve great credit for end to end football and 100% commitment shown. The victory was made possible by an unbelievable defensive display by our backs who fought til the end for every ball. Points from Sophie Mc Andrew, Ava Osborne and Charley May Armstrong along with goals from Lily O’Loughlin had us in a winning position with 10 mins to go but Tourlestrane, to their credit, never gave up and two goals in five minutes brought the game level!
With practically the last kick of the game Charley May kicked the winning point which was manufactured totally by our U14 girls Sinéad Keely and Rachel Feeney. A big thanks to Tourlestrane for a great game, well done to Rose Cawley for refereeing the game so well. Thank you to all the U14 girls who came as part of the panel and supported us the whole game.
